Saved from the NYC shelter...

A volunteer writes: Would you try to make a tomboy look like a  lady? I tried…..by putting a red boa around  Queen’s neck… She did not mind it but she really wanted to play and be silly… Queen has won the heart of many here at the care center from the veterinary staff to the kennel staff  and of course from all the volunteers  who  had the chance to spend time with her.  You would think that a big gal like her would knock you down, pull you like 100 horses on the street and may be eat your hand with the piece of roast beef  you treat her with…. NOT AT ALL.  She totally fits the definition of gentle giant !  Stand up hugs are her specialty. She circles your shoulders or waist with her forelegs without leaning heavily and kisses profusely. She poses her head in your lap for caresses.  She takes treats so gently from your fingers. Queen loves to play ball and runs clumsily after tennis balls. Her mouth is big and we were worried that she could swallow one. She has not discovered yet that she could fit 2 balls in her mouth…She sits so nicely on command  or for what ever we have for her. She is so patient and attuned to her caretaker. Other dogs, well,  we have met few, in the street and through the fence. Queen has saluted politely every single of them.  Queen is gorgeous and one wonders how such a masterpiece could be a stray… We probably will never know but a thought could be that her former masters who took great care of her, could not afford the care of her uterine prolapse and most likely a spay. I bet that there is someone out there who will want to take upon this task and adopt or rescue the Queen or queens, our precious and lovely dame Queen. Queen is at the Manhattan Care Center, dreaming of a royal and happy life… with you.
