Oliver was about a year old when he was rescued - with parvo - from the NYC ACC in April 2018. Oliver is about 50 pounds, he's great with people and would do best in a home with a yard. He prefers companion dogs his size and would do well with older children.

His foster family says: " Oliver is a wonderful dog. Obedient, kind, affectionate, intelligent. He is completely housebroken, knows basic commands such as sit and down, walks perfectly on leash when there are few distractions and responds to correction if there are some. He is handsome, healthy and athletic. He is a calm companion at home, and full of positive energy outdoors. He has been friendly with all other dogs and displays no aggression even when met with some. In short, he’s bubbling with positive energy to meet and greet his surroundings. Behaviorally, the weaknesses are simple and workable: he can get overexcited when meeting other dogs, especially if they're small, so he has to be walked with boundaries and reinforcing good leash manners, and it's important to be aware of his surroundings. Small dogs, in the arms of the owners, for example, are a lot for him to manage. He also needs to learn some boundaries with play, as he can be a little mouthy when he gets very excited, but he corrects quickly and redirects it to a chew toy (more play with other dogs will help this too, he’s still a puppy).  With a little patience, consistency and positive reinforcement with treats, he will reward those efforts one hundred times over. All in all, Oliver is ready, willing, and able to be a loyal friend and companion for whoever is lucky enough to take him under their wing."
