This precious girl is Cherry. Cherry is a one year old Shepherd/Rottweiler mix who weighs 40 pounds. Cherry was picked up as a stray in Texas by animal control, limping and in pain.
What we learned after she was out of the shelter and at our Texas Vet Partner was that Cherry was a chained dog living outside 24/7. Cherry got tangled in her chain and with no one around to care her leg ended up being mangled and degloved. This was the result of neglect and utter abuse by her owner. To make matters so much worse,  her owner allowed Cherry to remain in this condition for over a week while Cherry was literally eating, chewing and licking her severely injured leg. When they decided to do something their course of action was to drop her off at a high kill shelter where she surely would have been euthanized if we hadn’t of stepped in to save her. We got Cherry immediately to our vet partner where they determined that her leg was too far gone and amputation was necessary. She has undergone successful leg amputation surgery and is doing really well. We are sad for Cherry that she had to lose her leg and endure such pain and agony due to the neglect and abuse she suffered by her owner but she has a lot of fight in her and remains the sweetest girl! We know she will adjust to being a tripod and go on to live the best life ever now that she is a Rescue Dogs Rock girl! We would love to have an amazing family waiting for Cherry as soon as she has recovered. She is so gorgeous and has a wonderful temperament. She is very friendly around people of all ages and other dogs and will be spayed and up to date on vaccines prior to placement in her forever home. Cherry needs a home to call her very own where she will only be treated like the princess she is from here on out.
