This precious boy is Valerian. Valerian is a 5 year old Terrier mix who weighs 33 pounds and comes into rescue from Texas. We have learned that for weeks Valerian was running the streets of South Texas with a heavy chain around his neck and no one helped him. Finally a Good Samaritan saw him, took him to her house, called us and of course we immediately agreed to help. Valerian was in horrific medical condition but he got all the medical care he needed with our vet partner. He had a bad case of mange which is clearing nicely and he needed Entropion surgery for his eyes which he is recovering well from. He tested positive for multiple tick borne diseases and his teeth are non existent and worn down to the gums from having to survive outside on his own for so long. This is beyond upsetting and heartbreaking because Valerian is the sweetest and kindest soul. He is now doing great in his foster home but We can’t wait for him to find the special someone who can fill his life with so much unconditional love that he forgets all about the horrors of his past. He is a super friendly boy who is wonderful with people of all ages (including kids), and other dogs! He would however prefer a home without feline friends. He is very social and loves to cuddle! He enjoys car rides and walks perfect on leash. This handsome guy will make such a loyal and loving companion. He will be neutered and up to date on vaccines prior to placement in his forever home.
