Candy, anyone?  Candy is a female Labrador Retriever mix rescued in Texas after she had been attacked by other dogs in her kennel at a kill shelter.  Our veterinary partners estimate that Candy was 10 years old at the time of intake in February 2020. Candy is unphased by loud noises, but since she's an older gal, a chill home life might be best for her.  She is super calm - loves to lay in her bed or follow her foster Mom around the house.  Candy is incredible with people.  She is very friendly in the street when she encounters other dogs, but a young puppy might  have too much energy for her old soul. Candy is a more submissive dog and a bit timid in nature however she is very sweet. She doesn't growl or bark at people or dogs on the street. She is open to people who have approached her kindly to pet her.  Candy is a bit of a couch potato although she does enjoy slow walks. Candy is leash trained and housetrained.  She loves treats/meal time, loves to snuggle in her bed, under her blanket. Candy does not do well on indoor stairs, but is fine with outdoor stairs such as on a deck.  Candy is the chillest dog who is just very sweet all around. Our hearts are so broken for this senior girl who should never have ended up in a kill shelter in the first place.  We are looking for that special person who will open their heart and home to sweet Candy and give her the happy life and home that she should have had her whole life.  If you are that special person, please apply to adopt Candy at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.
