Heidi is a female Labrador Retriever/Hound mix rescued in Georgia. Our veterinary partner estimates that Heidi is 1.5 years old at the time of intake in June 2020. Heidi is a sweet and loving pup who is good with people of all ages and other dogs. Heidi was in the late stages of pregnancy when she was surrendered to a kill shelter. If the shelter was full, Heidi may not even have survived long enough to deliver her puppies. And a shelter is no place to have puppies. The chance of survival for Heidi's family would have been dismal. When the shelter pleaded with Rescue Dogs Rock NYC to help Heidi, we of course we said YES! and immediately picked Heidi up. Three days later, Heidi's puppies were born in the comfort and safety of our rescue. Heidi will spend the next several weeks being the good Momma that she is, and then when her pups are old enough to go to their forever homes, it will be Heidi's turn to find the happiness that has eluded her thus far in her life. Heidi is great around strangers.
Her eyes tell you everything in that she is very grateful to have been rescued from her life in Georgia. Heidi acts submissive often--she is not afraid, she is just trusting. She shows her trust by presenting her belly for rubs! Heidi loves being outside and will lie down and smile as if to say "five more minutes outside, please?"
We would like to have Heidi's forever home waiting for her when she's ready, so if you can open your arms, heart and home to Heidi, please apply online to adopt Heidi at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.
