Leo (NY) is a male Chihuahua mix rescued in New York. Our veterinary partner estimates that Leo is 14 years old at the time of intake in October 2020.  Leo is good with people of all ages and other dogs.  Leo was surrendered by his owner in this horrific condition with a huge lump on his back.  How anyone could allow this growth to become so huge, and then unceremoniously dump this 14 year old pup at a kill shelter is just beyond our comprehension.  Leo's age, the fact that he was owner surrendered and his obvious medical issue would have put Leo at the top of the list for immediate euthanasia. But Leo is so sweet and friendly that someone reached out to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC and asked if we would help Leo live.  And of course we said YES!  Leo has received the medical treatment he required, including removal of the mass.  And the best news is that although the mass was cancerous, it is a non-aggressive form and is not expected to spread.  Leo truly has received a second and third chance at life, and we would like this mature gentleman to live out his life in a happy home where he is truly loved.  If you can give Leo that home, please apply online to adopt Leo (NY) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.
