Hatcher (SC) is a male Pit Bull Terrier mix rescued in South Carolina. Our veterinary partner estimates that Hatcher is 8 years old at the time of intake in June 2021. Hatcher is good with people of all ages, including kids, and other dogs. Hatcher came to rescue when we received the plea to help him, he had been shot in the head. Well, it turns out he was shot twice, one bullet grazing his leg and the other lodging on his spine near his skull. This trauma created an injury to one of his eyes, which had to be removed, and possibly an issue that caused him to snap at his previously injured leg and bite the air and his leg. Hatcher takes a low dose of Gabapentin for that, and this behavior has not re-occurred while on the medication. He is altered and up to date on vaccines. He is a great boy, and truly, and likes people of all sizes and other dogs. Best fit in a home:  If other dogs, they would have a lower key personality, not an in your face type of personality. If there were toys, no balls please! He has a deep love for tennis balls, and doesn't like to have those taken away from him by anyone, human or fur. He is fun and happy, and has adjusted well despite the trauma and emotional injury he has endured, and we would love to find that special home for him that understands him and accepts that he didn't always have these challenges. We don't know why someone felt the need to shoot him. But we do know that he certainly did not deserve that fate, and we want him to live a life filled with nothing but love. If you would like to adopt Hatcher, please put your application in here: http://www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org

RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption.

Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.
