Hi! My name is Baby (NC). I am looking for my furever home. Come find me!
I am 9 years old, when counting in years, but when counting in terms of new experiences, yummy food, being safe and finally finding joy and happiness, my life is just beginning.
My entire life until now has been on a 3' heavy chain in North Carolina, being pregnant and delivering litter after litter of puppies for my owner to sell. I never lived in a real home, I only had a little cold, hard, filthy tube in the dirt as my shelter, with no fresh water and very little food. I was sad. I was dirty, my belly was hungry all the time, my skin was sore and I had no teeth left. I had no life, no love, no toys, no doggie friends and I never learned how to play. I only had my metal chain to chew on to curb my sadness and boredom.
But one day a very nice lady came and took me off my chain and took me to safety. For the first time in my life I experienced kindness, compassion and love. I stayed for a while in a hospital with a very nice doctor who took care of me and got me stronger and healthier. Once I got better and was ready to travel I headed north on a very long trip. My new life was just beginning. I am now staying with my foster mom and dad, and I have 3 foster fur-sisters to play with! Lillie is my favorite, she is really nice to me. She was abused too so she understands what I have been through. She watches over me and stays right with me when I go outside to potty. My foster parents have been giving me yummy meals. Grilled salmon, sweet potatoes and doggie fig newtons are my favorite! I even get a yogurt, fruit and cheerios parfait each day. I now weigh 34 lbs! I am enjoying a lot of new experiences like seeing myself in a mirror, looking at a TV, car rides, and I am not scared of the vacuum! I am really good about taking my daily vitamins and getting a bath. I tell my foster mom when I need to potty by going right to the front door and going outside. She is so proud of me! I never knew what toy was before but now I have lots of soft squeaky toys and am learning to play and cuddle with them. My fur is still thin in some areas and it’s still pretty cold up north so I am really good with my foster mom putting winter coats and sweaters on me to keep me warm when we go for walks. I love to go for walks! I have met a lot of new people and I don’t jump up, I just want them to pet me. Once they see my adorable face and sweet personality, I get lots of attention. I love everyone I meet – humans and all kinds of furbabies! I am super sweet and gentle. I am a great companion, and I love to sit on laps.
Will you adopt me and be my furever home? Please apply online to adopt Baby (NC) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.
RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue. All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.
