Baron was rescued from Alabama emaciated, full of sores and swollen back feet. We suspect that someone had broken or torn his nails. He is a senior (6-8 years) couch potato who is starved for affection and would love to be pet all day. Baron will need an understanding and patient family. He will likely be on inexpensive medication for the rest of his life to maintain his quality of life. Our vet tells us that there are no definite "cures" for him.
Baron is currently at 160 lbs and will need another 15 -20 to fill him out. He gets along fine on flat surfaces and is slow mover unless there is food or a yappy dog involved. He would do best in a home without stairs and should have access to a yard. He needs to go every 3-5 hours. He is fine with people, however, we request a home with older kids only, or no kids. He is also okay with other dogs and cats as long as they dont expect him to play. He walks well on a leash and has no trouble taking his medication.
Baron is currently fostered in Astoria/e. Elmhurst. We do have have interest in keeping him close to his current vet, and therefore a discussion will need to occur to ensure a 'best fit' scenario prior to adoption approval. Baron has a big heart and has so much love to give. Are you that special someone who can love this big boy and tell him it's ok when he has nightmares?
